Working out at home can be very rewarding when you consider the amount of time you can save and all of the hassles that can be avoided. If you are considering working out in your home, I believe you will need some kind of equipment to use. Nearly all fitness programs nowadays require you to purchase some kind of gear or devices in order to complete some of the exercises that may be involved. The gym typically provides all the equipment you could ever want, but in the home environment, this is all up to you. Don’t worry though; I have provided a list of some of the best equipment for the home gym you can get for a minimal price.
1. Weight bench
There are a few recommended items that work great for any home gym. Probably the most popular that I can recommend is a weight bench. This typically provides the foundation for most exercises you will do at home, and when you combine it with a good set of adjustable dumbbells, you have a setup that will take your fitness to new levels. If you do not want a weight bench I recommend you try exercise ball since a lot of the same exercises can be done using either. Also, you may opt for resistance bands if you are not interested in lifting heavyweights.
2. Freestanding pull-up bar
This is another piece of gear that is on my list, and I believe a home gym just can’t be without it. This item will help you sculpt the perfect upper body and will make great use of limited space since it combines multiple workout stations on one device. Pull-ups and dips are often difficult to do in the home since they require specific gear, but this device will have you covered.
3. Elliptical trainers
These are comfortable and non-impact any easily used by anyone. It gives the movement in the horizontally oval manner, and you can adjust the intensity for sedentary movements. You can make a choice for your home, and it requires less space.
These are my best of the home exercise equipment types. Using the treadmill, you can go jogging or walk at home, no matter what time of day or weather. Treadmills of good quality are in the range of $1000. Be certain that any treadmill you will be considering is capable of holding a considerable amount of weight, as running on a treadmill requires a great deal of force. Keep in mind to check the warranty and customer service offered with the purchase of the treadmill you are considering.
These bars are excellent for various self-weight exercises. Dipping bars can be used to strengthen your triceps, abdomen muscles, back, shoulders and chest. They are also relatively cheap – quality ones can be found under $100. You can also found a lot of video tutorials on how to properly utilize dip bars.
5. Exercise bike
Bicycles are often used for exercise at home. They are ideal for the overweight person. When you use an exercise bike for a workout, you are targeting the muscles of the legs and buttocks. These bicycles range greatly in price. Normally, the top-class bike costs $500 to $1,000.
6. Stability balls
Stability balls are a very valuable part of a set of home fitness equipment. One can make use of stability balls along with other gym equipment for an effective workout. With Swiss balls, you can work the abdominals effectively. You can use a Swiss ball along with home fitness equipment, for fun, challenge and create successful workouts at ease in the house or the gym. A great stability ball will cost just about $50.
7. Spinners and twisters
Trust me these machines are the best way to tone up your waist muscles. It is the right way to get rid of your bulging waist and tone up in the right shape. This equipment is well suited for women for post-delivery body fat. It comes in various sizes and requires very little space.
8. Suspension Trainers
This piece of equipment has taken a lot of popularity in recent years. The reason for this is that it’s available on the open market, it’s affordable and you can do a lot of quality exercises. Suspension trainers are basically a set of straps suspended from the floor. The main point is to strengthen your body core, flexibility and overall strength.
